About James JensenJames N. Jensen

Dr. James N. Jensen is Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo. He serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of the MS program in Environmental Science. Dr. Jensen has a BS degree from Caltech and MSPH and PhD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   Dr. Jensens research and teaching responsibilities are in drinking water and wastewater treatment processes. Recent undergraduate research projects under his direction have investigated sustainable drinking water treatment practices in Africa biodiesel production and the fate of personal care products in the environment.   Dr. Jensen has numerous publications in water chemistry and water treatment and two patents. His research work has been funded by EPA other research organizations industry and utilities. The work of Dr. Jensen and his students has received research awards from four professional organizations. From 2003 to 2004 Dr. Jensen was Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University at Buffalo. He has published two textbooks. Dr. Jensen was awarded the Chancellors Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1995 and the Engineering Educator of the Year from the Erie-Niagara Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers in 2009.
