Financial Markets and Institutions
English
By (author): Gianni Nicolini Marianne Guille Marlene Haupt
The aim of this book is to provide an overall picture of the structure, role, and functioning of a financial system. To this end, it describes and analyzes the functioning of financial products and services, and addresses the role of financial intermediaries and financial markets in a financial system. Reading the chapters in this book should provide an understanding of basic financial principles and help readers develop knowledge and confidence about which product can help satisfy a personal need or what a financial intermediary can do to support, for example, a growing business or a government that needs to raise funds by issuing bonds.
With respect to other textbooks, this project aims to approach the teaching of finance from a perspective that is not heavily US-centered, as is often the case. A more balanced perspective could help to provide a more objective view of the financial world, helping students from a particular country to know how the financial system of their country works and at the same time to be aware of the differences that exist with respect to other contexts, thus achieving a deeper understanding of the global financial landscape.
