List of Contributors Ruperto Alonzo is a Full Professor in Economics and former Vice President for Development at the University of the Philippines (UP). He obtained training from the University of Chicago. With almost 40 years of experience as an economist Alonzo has led projects for the Asian Development Bank National Economic Development Authority Institute for Small-Scale Industries etc. He has numerous publications in the fields of Project Evaluation Agricultural Economics and Public Policy. Abdul Saboor Atrafi originally from Afghanistan holds a graduate degree in urban planning from Columbia University in New York (USA) and an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Herat University (Afghanistan). Prior to his current job at the International Labour Organization in Geneva he used to work on urban development issues with the Aga Khan Development Network in Afghanistan. His area of expertise is sustainable urban development with a focus on environmental issues. He also has vested interest in research on labour issues in urban areas globalization and development aid. Parvez Babul is a journalist and columnist in Bangladesh. He is also president Bangladesh Network of Climate Change Journalists. Katie Black worked with the Green Economics Institute since graduating from the University of Leeds with a first-class Masters in Chemistry in July 2010. A specialist in Carbon Capture and Storage she has represented the Institute and given speeches at several events and attended the COP16 climate change conference in Cancun as a delegate of the Institute. She has just started a new post at DECC in the autumn of 2011. Graciela Chilchinisky created the formal theory of sustainable development and the concept of Basic Needs (Chichilnisky 1976 1996 1997). She is the architect of the Kyoto Protocol's carbon market and acted as a lead author of the IPCC which received the 2007 Nobel Prize. Dr. Chichilnisky is a Professor of Economics and Statistics and Director of Columbia Consortium for Risk Management (CCRM) at Columbia University New York. Henry Cox retired from paid work as an Engineer in 1983 and now has 70 years' experience of gardening and growing plants on land productively. Daren De Castro holds a qualification in Economics from the University of the Philippines. De Castro now works for the Maersk Group. Michelle S. Gale de Oliveira is on the board of the Green Economics Institute UK and was at the International Relations Department at Richmond the American International University in London (RAIUL) and lives in the remote rainforest in Brazil. She was editor of the Green Economics Institutes magazine The Green Economist as well as the Editor of the current climate change special issue of the International Journal of Green Economics. Her writing has been featured in Europe's World one of the foremost European policy magazines. She lectures and speaks on Environmental and Social Justice Gender Equity and International Development from a Green Economics perspective. She is founder and chair of the Gender Equity Forum at RAIUL. Recently she recently organised a Green Economics conference on women's unequal pay and poverty in Reading UK and lectured on green economics in Berlin Germany at retreats in Glastonbury UK and is a regular speaker at international conferences. She researches women's unequal pay and poverty in Brazil and lives in the remote jungle in Brazil. Klarizze Puzon is currently affiliated with the Laboratoire Montpellierain d'Economie Theorique et Appliquee (LAMETA) in France. She obtained a graduate degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (research track with distinction) from Toulouse School of Economics in 2011. Aija Graudina is a Doctor of Economic Sciences works as an Associate Professor of BA School of Business and Finance (Latvia). Specialization: insurance and reinsurance industry insurance economy (green economic). She is a member of the International Insurance Society (IIS) and the Latvian Association of Economics. Volker Heinnemann is an economist who studied at the Universities of Goettingen Kiel and Nottingham. He is a specialist in international and developing economics monetary economics and macroeconomic theory and policy. He is author of the book Die Oekonomie der Zukunft (The Economy of the Future) outlining a green structure for a contemporary economy that accepts the pressing changes that are needed to outdated current economic thinking. He is co-founder and Director and CFO of the Green Economics Institute a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales trained at PricewaterhouseCoopers and other major Institutions and is a Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Green Economics. He is a popular radio and TV speaker in Europe and a former Die Gruenen Councillor. Meredith Hunter MLA is the Leader of the ACT Greens and the Chair of the Climate Change Environment and Water Committee. Prior to entering parliament she was the Non-Executive Director of the ACTION Board Chair of the Joint Community Government Reference Group the Youth Homelessness Working Group and the Anti-Poverty ACT Facilitating Group; a board member of ACT Shelter National Shelter and the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition. She is also an Adjunct Professional Associate Youth Work at University of Canberra. Kristina Jociute is an economist interested in analysis and policy of macroeconomics and is at Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania. A member of both the Association of Lithuanian Economists (LEA) and an NGO Kaunas Club (Lithuania) she is the Manager of the Green Economics Institute (UK). Her interests include human welfare and well-being poverty issues behavioural economics sustainable development and macroeconomics. She is executive editor of the International Journal of Green Economics. Miriam Kennet is an economist environmental scientist and member of Mansfield College Oxford University the Environmental Change Institute Oxford University Oxford Union and IPCC. She co-edited Green Economics Beyond Supply and Demand to Meeting People's Needs and is the author of over 100 articles on green economics and stakeholder theory corporate social responsibility and economics transformation green jobs geo-engineering and women's unequal pay and poverty climate change poverty prevention and biodiversity economics. CEO Director and Co-Founder of the Green Economics Institute a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) and the founder/editor of the International Journal of Green Economics and The Green Economist she is a regular trainer speaker lecturer and adviser to governments including the National School of Government in the UK. She lectures and speaks on the international stage and many universities around the world and has appeared on radio and TV in many countries most recently Estonia and Spain Italy Belgium and the UK. She is running a very lively international interns college and regular influential international green economics conferences and has her own delegation to the Kyoto Process. A UK government-recommended reviewer for the IPCC and reviewer/writer for the International Labour Organisation she is on the Assembly of the Green European Foundation and on the steering group of the European Network of Political Foundations. Peter Kirby-Harris is a researcher in Queen Mary College London where he specialises in environmental politics and green economics with a focus on sustainability concepts and the links between national and European governments. With a background in history and international relations he has written on topics as diverse as EU's fisheries policy emissions trading international climate change negotiations energy security public policy and bio-regionalism. Peter teaches courses on environmental politics eco-philosophy and the history of social movements in addition to some occasional consulting work on environmental policy. Rakesh Kumar is a vice-president in Gartner Research where he specialises in enterprise infrastructure and operations strategies. With more than 23 years of international experience Mr. Kumar is a recognised leader in data centre architectures infrastructure high availability and operational processes. Mr. Kumar is also leading the research in data centre power and cooling issues and is an established international authority in environmental and green IT strategies. He has worked with the European Union and various governments around the world on energy-related technology issues. Mr. Kumar has spent considerable time in India working with many companies and government departments. He is one of the world's foremost experts on the development of core IT infrastructure in India. Mr. Kumar joined Gartner in April 2005 with the acquisition of Meta Group where he was senior vice president and co-research director (EMEA). In this position apart from his core research areas he drove changes in the European research organization and was instrumental in delivering Meta Group's leading Operations Excellence transformation program. Before Meta Group Mr. Kumar was EMEA marketing manager for HP's commercial Unix and NT business. He has also held various positions with IBM in software development sales and consultancy management. Mr Kumar is a part qualified Chartered Accountant having trained with KPMG. Clive Lord was a founder member of the English and Welsh Greens in 1973. He served as a Probation officer for 30 years retiring in 1994. Clive's book A Citizen's Income - a Foundation for a Sustainable World has been followed by the Green Economics and Citizens' Income published in November 2011. Maria Alejandra Caporale Madi has a PhD in Economics and is a professor and researcher at the Instituto de Economia State University of Campinas Brazil. She is the author of Monetary Policy in Brazil: a Post-Keynesian interpretation and her recent publications include: Corporate social responsibility: credit and banking inclusion in Brazil; Financialization Employability and their Impacts on the Bank Workers' Union Movement in Brazil (1994-2004). Winston Ka-Ming Mak is the Policy Advisor to the Green Economics Institute specialising in writing articles and delivering speeches on sustainability issues in various conferences. He holds a first degree in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Hong Kong. After a career with Hong Kong's civil service he completed his Master's degree in Environmental Strategy (Distinction) at the University of Surrey with his dissertation focusing on new legal frameworks for businesses and sustainable economy. Before he joined the Institute he was a Research Associate with the ESRC Research Group on Lifestyles Values and Environment (RESOLVE) at the University of Surrey. Peter McGrath is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Management (SSTO) at the University of Central Lancashire. Peter's prime research interest is slow travel. He is currently working on a doctoral thesis on this subject with Professor Les Lumsdon in the Institute of Transport and Tourism. Peter has been involved in a range of research projects the most recent being a study conducted on the Eurovelo cycle network which examined the challenges and opportunities for sustainable tourism across the route. The European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism requested this study. He also manages the VisTrav (Sustainable Leisure Travel) Network in partnership with Natural England. The network brings together professionals pooling their expertise and experience to make leisure travel more sustainable. It seeks practical and grounded solutions to protect the local and global natural environment and examines the economic benefits of sustainable travel. Maria Delfini Rossi is a young academic and green activist. She has an honour degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and she did her Master of Research in Economics in the European University Institute. Delfina is currently working in the European Parliament for a Greens MEP and was also the co-spokesperson of the Federation of Young European Greens. Monika E. Siegrist is an accomplished consultant with a rich experience-base spanning a wide variety of sustainability and related projects including: Sustainability strategy carbon accounting (NABERs & GRI certified) ISO compliant environmental management systems (design & reporting) water management strategy continuous improvement programmes supply chain operations customer-service delivery. Monika has experience in a wide range of industries and organisation types including: Air transport healthcare (Hospitals) management consulting publishing advertising not-for-profit sector and Government. Monika has worked with many respected organisations including: AirCanada Air New Zealand ESTA (emergency services telecommunications authority) Canadian Pacific The Austin Hospital group The Northern Area Health Alliance Australia Post and beyondblue. Enrico Tezza is a senior training specialist and has a background in social research and evaluation studies. After a career in the Italian Ministry of Labour and local public institutions he joined the International Labour Organisation in Turin in 1992. He is labour market advisor for the Green Economics Institute. Subjects covered vary from training policy to employment and active labour market measures. His current focus interest is on social dialogue for green jobs. His main publication was Evaluating Social Programmes: the relevance of relationships and his latest publications include Dialogue for Responsible Restructuring and Green Labour Market for Transitions. Jennifer L. Umlas is a researcher affiliated with the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center. She holds a Master in Social Science - Applied Economics qualification from the National University of Singapore. Edmundo Werna has worked for over 25 years on different aspects of urban development with particular attention to labour. He joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2004. He has a PhD in urban development from the University of London (UK) an MPhil in development studies from the Institute of Development Studies in Sussex (UK) and a Bachelor*s degree in urban development and architecture from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). Prior to joining the ILO Dr. Werna designed and implemented the urban development agenda of UNDP's UN Volunteers Programme. He undertook consultancies for several organizations including local governments World Health Organization European Commission the World Bank UN-Habitat UNCDF/UNDP and also the ILO. Dr. Werna also has extensive academic experience having done research and lectures in British Brazilian and Italian universities and at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the US. He has published eight books in the UK and USA plus many chapters in edited books and several articles in scientific journals. He is a member of the editorial board of the journals Habitat International and International Journal of Sustainable Urban Development. Werna received a number of awards including the Earth Summit 2002 Sustainable Development Award (given by RCA and Stakeholder Forum for Our Common Future) the O. Koenigsberger Award for Best Article of the journal Habitat International (1996); honours mention for two articles in the Jorge Hardoy Prize (2000). He co-wrote a chapter of the edited book which won the British Medical Association's Prize for Best Book (1997). One of his WHO projects was chosen as best practice for the Hanover 2000 Exhibition. Two of his UNV projects also received prizes and a third one has been selected as Best Practice for the Un-Habitat / Dubai Awards. Haihan Yu is currently undertaking research at the Departamento de Fundamentos del Analisis Economico of Universidad de Alicante in Spain. He has obtained training from Southwestern University Universite Toulouse 1-Capitole and McGill University.
