Martin Kippenberger: Paintings Volume IV: Catalogue Raisonné of the Paintings 1993-1997: Volume IV

The German artist Martin Kippenberger produced a rich and diverse body of work from the mid 1970s until his untimely death at the age of 44, and is now regarded as one of the most influential artists of his time. Volume IV of the Catalogue Raisonné, which is the first to be published, contains details of all his paintings made from 1993 to 1997. The entries for these 225 paintings in total comprise catalogue number, title, year, media, dimensions, inscriptions, provenance, exhibitions and bibliography. Each work is reproduced in full colour, along with any relevant source materials (where applicable). This volume also contains an overview of unfinished works. Each series or group of works is presented as a separate chapter with its own commentary covering the genesis of works as well as references to both Kippenbergers own work and that of other artists. This volume also contains a chronological list of works with black-and-white thumbnails, a chronological list of exhibitions and a bibliography, which reflects Martin Kippenbergers own specific use of the terms exhibition catalogue, artists book and book.
