More Saint Helena Tales
Paperback | English
By (author): Geoffrey Martin
Once again we return to St Helena, a small island everyone knows but nobody knows much about. The islanders still prize their way of life, which often puts them at odds with their remote rulers in London. They believe it costs too much to run and should really be making money for them. It is still a mini-colony in the time when these stories are set, part of the remains of the British Empire, complete with a Governor with feathers on his hat.
Geoffrey Martin first visited this small colony in his earlier book Saint Helena Tales. He returns for some further stories about local characters and the officials sent out from London to try and bring order to an unappreciative population. These stories are mostly a light-hearted look at life on this tiny island. The locals just want to get on with their lives, but as in all small places there are endless opportunities for everyone to scheme and manoeuvre to achieve their respective ends. See more
