Sabine is the last sharkmaid alive. She lives with her two best friends: Jack, a fun-loving seahorse and Emily, a happy-go-lucky turtle. Sabine is just like you or me but instead of legs she has a shark's tail and instead of walking, she swims. Sabine can swim faster than any human; she can also swim faster than any shark. There used to be other sharkmaids in the oceans but Sabine does not know she has forgotten them... A sea demon, known as The Kilk, has set up shark nets around the Mediterranean Sea to capture and kill sharks. Ruling this part of the underwater world with his army of sea spiders, sharks are depleting in numbers and the Mediterranean Sea has become dark and lifeless. A chance encounter leads Sabine on a journey to discover her identity. Will she be the sea creature who stops The Kilk and save the sharks?

About Katrina Barton
Katrina is a half English half German Chelsea supporter who achieved her dream day job of working in films when she was 25. First training as an Assistant Script Supervisor on films such as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Mamma Mia before moving into Visual Effects and working on films such as Hugo Beauty and the Beast and Murder on the Orient Express. Always wanting to be a writer Katrina collected ideas along the way and then one day finally stopped procrastinating and started typing. Making Carluccios in Walton-on-Thames one of her writing spaces Katrina can often be spotted hammering on her laptop whilst drinking red wine before scurrying to the bathroom hoping no one steals her magnum opus. Previously abjectly terrified of spiders - dead or alive - she is proud to say her phobia is now only around 'medium' on the arachnophobic scale. She has however always been the opposite of a galeophobic (a morbid fear of sharks) and has a strange fascination with these amazing fish. Her father thought she would grow out of it... she didn't. Thus Katrina's current project is a series of children's books based on a female heroine of the oceans who is a sharkmaid and protector of the seas. As a keen scuba diver and environmentalist Katrina is keen to change the perception of sharks and encourage cleaner oceans for everyone to share.
