Sulfur Heterocycles: Structure, Synthesis, and Applications

English

By (author): Maya Shankar Singh

This first book dedicated to the topic provides a unique overview of the most important classes of saturated and unsaturated sulfur heterocycles, organized by ring size, and the vital role they play in total synthesis, drug development, and industry.
Each chapter contains a description of the nomenclature, structure, stereochemistry, reactivity, design, and common methods of synthesis, as well as physical and biological properties and industrial applications.
With its conceptual approach, this is an ideal information source for graduate students and academics interested in natural product chemistry and organic synthesis as well as for researchers in industry working in the area of drug synthesis, agricultural chemistry or materials science. See more

About Maya Shankar Singh

Maya Shankar Singh is Professor of Organic Chemistry at Banaras Hindu University Varanasi India since 2006. He obtained his PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University in 1986. After postdoctoral research he joined the Vikram University Ujjain (India) as assistant professor in 1990 and moved to Gorakhpur University (India) as associate professor from 1998 - 2004. During his sabbatical he visited University of Arizona (USA) Michigan State University (USA) Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan) Loughborough University (UK) and University of Leicester (UK). His research interests are centered on synthetic organic chemistry in particular the design and discovery of new drug candidates development of novel building block precursors new synthetic methodologies (catalytic and stoichiometric) and investigations towards understanding mechanisms one-pot multi-component domino/tandem reactions solvent-free reactions asymmetric synthesis and green reactions. He has published more than 120 scientific papers in international journals and has also authored three textbooks in Organic Chemistry. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences India.
