About Richard Walker

Richard Walker (Author) Dr. Richard Walker studied zoology at Oxford and Aberystwyth Universities receiving a PhD in zoology and biochemistry from the latter. He taught biology and science at secondary schools in London before taking up writing full-time in the early 1990s. Richard is now a science writer specialising in human biology and the biosciences. He has written or contributed to over 100 books. His DK Guide to the Human Body won the 2002 Royal Society Science Books Junior Prize; three of his other titles were short-listed for the same prize in 2005 2008 and 2013. The Way We Work (Walker Books) co-authored with illustrator and Macarthur fellow David Macaulay won a Boston Globe-Horn Book non-fiction prize in 2009. Six of his titles were listed in the US as NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children in 1996 2002 2004 2008 2009 and 2016. Other titles include Dr. Frankenstein's Human Body Book (DK) Genes and DNA (Kingfisher) and Eyewitness Human Body (DK).Rachel Caldwell (Illustrator) Rachel Caldwell is a painter and illustrator based in Pennsylvania USA. She earned a B.F.A. in Communication Design from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where her studies included Drawing Printmaking and Graphic Design.
