The Meadow Farm Band: Teaching the Value of Inclusion

English

By (author): Elizabeth Price

Meadow Farm has a secret. Behind the scenes, some of the animals are very musical. Robbie Robin wants them to form a band, but one animal feels so left out... How can Robbie help to put things right? | This book explores how it feels to be excluded and how an onlooker can make things better. Young children learn to empathise with the story''s characters. They learn to name and describe different feelings. Do they know anyone who appears to be left out? Do they themselves ever feel left out? How can we learn from our mistakes? | ''The Meadow Farm Band'' teaches children the value of inclusion and can be used as an early anti-bullying intervention at school, nursery and in the home. About Elizabeth Price

Elizabeth Price (known to friends as Liz) is a former primary teacher and lives in Potton Bedfordshire. Over her 25 years of teaching experience Elizabeth''s favourite lessons to deliver have been Literacy Art Music and Values Education. She is a huge lover of good picture books. These can be used as an amazing teaching tool across the curriculum. They are equally important for parents to enjoy with their children at home. | Elizabeth is Scottish and was brought up in Fraserburgh Aberdeenshire. She has fond memories of her childhood although being the daughter of a Church of Scotland minister was not plain sailing...the times that Elizabeth longed for her dad to be a fisherman! In later years she was to appreciate what a wonderful role model her father had been. So much so that he appears as Robbie Robin in ''The Meadow Farm Band''! | Elizabeth is passionate about teaching values to young children. ''The Meadow Farm Band'' is the first picture book in a series of stories addressing a different value each time. With adult support children are thus able to develop empathy and self-understanding in preparation for life ahead.
