English

By (author): Nadia Mike

Illustrated by: Tamara Campeau

Baby Muskox is all alone on the tundra, lost and very worried. When Mother Caribou and Baby Caribou find him, they bring him back to their herd. But even though Baby Muskox finds comfort with Mother Caribou, he knows he's a little bit different from the rest of the herd. As Baby Muskox and Baby Caribou grow older, the differences between them grow, too. Baby Muskox feels alone and left out in the herd. But one day, during a walk on the tundra with Mother Caribou, Baby Muskox finally figures out where he belongs. See more

About Nadia Mike

Nadia Mike is an Inuit educator who graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina. Although Nadia has lived in many communities across the North she considers Iqaluit Nunavut her home. Nadia has two daughters Leah and Jaime who constantly teach her to be less serious and enjoy every day. These two girls have also reminded Nadia of the importance of childrens literature and having stories with settings characters and themes that show children that their lives and cultures are important enough to be in books. Nadia loves to travel cook sew and drink strong coffee. In 2014 Nadia published her first book an Inuktitut-language first-words board book. In 2016 she published Leahs Mustache Party her first picture book followed by Ukaliq and Kalla Go Fishing in 2017. Tamara Campeau works digitally to create her painterly storytelling illustrations. Her work has a strong sense of lighting naturalistic colours and dynamic composition. She is strongly inspired by wildlife children and the environments in which they reside. She uses this inspiration to add a layer of realism to her work. Campeaus illustration journey began at Dawson College where she earned her associate degree in illustration and design. Shortly after she furthered her studies at Sheridan College where she obtained her bachelors degree in illustration.
