When Marigold Davis arrives in Denver City in the summer of 1859, she is not the mail order bride Virgil Gardner ordered. Shes a penniless divorcee who stole her ticket from her sister. Marigold refuses to be intimidated by the surly mountain man who greets her. Nor does she expect him to marry her because, honestly, she doesnt want to marry him or anyone else.
