About Paddy Donnelly

Paddy Donnelly is an Irish author and illustrator living in Belgium who has illustrated many childrens books including Dodos Are Not Extinct Here Be Dragons Míp The Last Seaweed Pie Hom and Wolves in Helicopters. He has been nominated twice for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards and in 2023 he won the Judges Special Award at the KPMG Childrens Books Ireland Awards. His books have been published worldwide in many languages. Paddys first book as both author and illustrator the award-winning The Vanishing Lake is a heart-warming story of a little girl Meara her grandad and a mysterious lake. Meara and her grandad also feature in The Golden Hare a wondrous celebration of nature. Paddy introduced us to the world of Ballybrush and the imaginative little fox Rory in Fox & Son Tailers which was shortlisted for the An Post Irish Book Awards in 2022 and won the Literacy Association of Ireland Biennial Childrens Book Award in 2023.
