Two-Dimensional Materials for Mid-infrared Photonic and Photoelectric Applications

English

By (author): Chunyang Ma Han Zhang Rui Cao Zhe Shi

Two-Dimensional Materials for Mid-infrared Photonic and Photoelectric Applications reviews the recent developments of two-dimensional (2D) materials for applications in mid-infrared (MIR) photonics. First, the development of 2D materials is introduced beginning with the discovery of graphene in 2004. Then, MIR photonic applications are presented in detail. Third, 2D materials that are suitable for MIR photonic applications are discussed, including their synthesis processes and properties. Additionally, novel 2D materials that are suitable for MIR photonic applications beyond the commonly used graphene, black phosphorous, and transition metal dichalcogenides are presented. These include 2D Te (tellurene), transition metal trichalcogenides (TiS3, TiSe3), tetradymites (Bi2S3,Bi2Se3,Bi2Te3), multinary layered materials (CuIn7Se11, Ta2NiSe5), topological insulators, etc. Fourth, various photonic applications of 2D MIR materials are addressed, including light emission devices, modulators, photodetectors, imaging, integrated MIR chips and so forth. Finally, the unresolved challenges in this area are examined. Two-Dimensional Materials for Mid-infrared Photonic and Photoelectric Applications is suitable for those in academia and R&D in the subject areas of materials science and engineering, particularly those focusing on nanomaterials or optoelectronics and photonics application areas.
