We went to the Moon
Paperback | English
By (author): Gordon Caruana Dingli
Man first landed on the Moon on the Apollo 11 flight. While Michael Collins remained in orbit, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed at Tranquility Base and walked on the Moon in July 1969.
This book describes the events leading up to the Moon landing and explains how it was achieved. The author also discusses how the event was followed in Malta, with newspaper and television coverage, stamp issues and Apollo inspired art by the artist Victor Pasmore who lived on the island at the time.
The book includes a series of recollections by people in Malta of events at the time. Apollo was a US project, but people around the world, including in Malta, followed it closely and they felt that they were
part of this momentous event.
