Liverpool Football Club Ruined My Life: Sixty Years of Supporting Everton
English
By (author): Robert Waterhouse
Liverpool Football Club Ruined My Life is a personal and nostalgic account of the author's 60 years supporting Everton. It examines why Liverpool overtook the Toffees as the dominant Merseyside club.
Bob Waterhouse whisks us back to Merseyside in the early 1960s, where he grew up supporting Everton, and takes us through to the present day. During his 60 years supporting the club, Bob has witnessed many key matches that have punctuated Everton's decline, such as the 1971 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool, as well as experiencing the hope of a possible reverse in the 1980s when he attended winning cup finals at home and in Europe. Along the way, he reflects on some of the major events and eras he lived through - from the Vietnam War, to the Thatcher years, to 9/11.
The book shines a light on the experiences of the post-war baby-boomers, including the generational conflict they faced and the new opportunities offered by the expansion of higher education.
