TYIN Tegnestue Architects
English
MUSAC (The Institute of Contemporary Arts in Castilla) presents this illustrated monograph celebrating the work of the Norwegian design studio TYIN Tegnestue, founded by Yashar Hanstad and Andreas Gjertsen. These two young architects have travelled the world in search of meaning and possibilities for the future of design, taking them to war zones of on the Thai-Burmese border, the slums of Bangkok and the jungles of Sumatra. After several years of extensive travel, they asked themselves what have they learned - working outside the confines of conventional architecture, in the backdrop of different cultures and languages - and decided to share the processes, core values and methods applied in each of their projects. This book gathers contributions from five professionals from the world of architecture and design Christiane Burklein (Germany), Kristine Guzman (Spain), Lisbet Harboe (Norway), Einar Bjarki Malmquist (Iceland) and Hans Skotte (Norway), to delve into the TYIN style of architecture that reevaluates the materials, structure, detail and the human factor in modern architectural design.
