'From Erewash to Radegund' records a young man's life from a Midland mining village through elementary school, a school in a big city, wartime in the Erewash Valley, post-war military service, and finally a great university and the search for a career. It is a book about social mobility in the last industrial age, describing some ordinary and extra-ordinary people and how they saw the world, and discussing the stages by which we all grow up, as well as why certain things stick in our minds.
