CD-ROM | English
By (author): Paul Rayson Richard Xiao Tony McEnery
A Frequency Dictionary of Mandarin Chinese is an invaluable tool for all learners and users of Mandarin Chinese, providing a list of the 5,000 words and the 2,000 Chinese characters (simplified) most commonly used in the language.
Based on a fifty-million-word corpus composed of spoken, fiction, non-fiction and news texts in current use, the dictionary provides the user with a detailed frequency-based list along with the English equivalent and a sample sentence with English translation.
This CD version has been specifically designed for use by corpus and computational linguists. It provides the frequency corpus in a tab delimited format allowing users the flexibility to process the material for their own research purposes.
Richard Xiao is Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Chinese Studies at Edge Hill University. Paul Rayson is Director of the University Centre for Computer Corpus Research on Language and a teaching fellow at Lancaster University.
