This book celebrates the unsung heroes and heroines of missionary evangelism, whose tortuous efforts in propagating Christianity in southeast Nigeria have inadvertently been wiped away from the history of churches and memories of the faithful. Ide Gabriel Nnolim Ezekwo and his contemporaries were the fulcrum of the early church in Nigeria. They were the foot soldiers for the early church and were used to evangelise in places where the European missionaries did not dare to go due to the harshness of living conditions and hostility from the indigenous people. With faith they climbed mountains and descended hills to establish churches and missionary outposts. This book also gives insight on how the church has changed since the days of Pa Gabriel Ezekwo, such as the alarming rate of moral decadence in Nigerian Christianity. This could be traced to the cumulative effects of the failure of many social institutions - the family, the school, the church - in contemporary Nigeria.
