Carbohydrate Binding Modules: Functions & Applications

Carbohydrates play an important role in many biological and biochemical processes, including the fertilisation, cell differentiation and maturation, protein folding and degradation. Carbohydrates are also involved in a variety of recognition events, such as cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Many of these are immunologically relevant processes, namely inflammation host-pathogen interactions, immune response and health disorders, such as arthritis, Alzheimer''''s disease, among others.
