Lancashire Buses in the 1980s

English

By (author): George Fairbairn

At the start of the 1980s, George Fairbairn took up employment in Rochdale, in the North West of England. Over the following years, he took his camera with him everywhere and was able to capture the bus scene in various parts of Lancashire in the momentous years up to and immediately after deregulation in 1986. With a wealth of photographs covering a variety of Lancastrian municipal and independent operators often overshadowed by their big city rivals, the GMPTE and Merseyside PTE, the author offers a wonderfully nostalgic and evocative snapshot of buses around Lancaster, from Rochdale to Oldham and beyond.
