Nature Detective: Urban Wildlife

English

By (author): Victoria Munson

This easy-to-follow, wildlife-spotting book for children introduces 50 of the most common birds, animals, plants and insects found in British urban areas.

This book has simple descriptions, with information about scientific names, size, food, life span and habitat. Stunning colour photographs will help with easy identification.

You can see urban wildlife in villages, towns and cities. There is wildlife every where, from the plants growing in pavement cracks to trees in a churchyard and the insects buzzing past your head. You can be a nature detective in lots of different places, such as in your local park, alongside canals and rivers, or even just walking down the street. Look up, down and around and you'll be amazed at what you can see.

Find out how to become a nature detective and learn about protecting the wildlife all around you.

Perfect for the National Curriculum's study of living things at KS1 and KS2.

If you enjoy this book, then why not search out the other titles in this series: British Birds; British Insects; British Mammals; British Trees; British Wild Flowers; British Butterflies and British Seashore.

About Victoria Munson

Victoria Munson has been fascinated by wildlife since she was 8 years old when she helped her parents to rescue a kestrel with a broken wing. She joined the Young Ornithologist's Club (YOC part of the RSPB) shortly after and spent many a happy weekend visiting Wildfowl and Wetland Centres hand-feeding Canada Geese and adopting a Wigeon (Wilbur). Since then she has made a study of butterflies homed hedgehogs worms and ladybirds and is now enjoying a second childhood through introducing her own children to rockpooling wildlife spotting and making minibeast homes.
