English

By (author): Sarah Wallace

Illustrated by: Lesley McGee

Inspired by mythology and full of freckles, this magical story of self-acceptance will capture children's hearts with twinkling stars, a shimmering island and wonderful tale of connection to the stories of ancestors. Emma has thousands of freckles, but sometimes she wishes she didn't. One day grandma tells her a story from long ago; a story of a beautiful island with mist that dances off the ocean, glimmering stars that speak to you from faraway places, and freckles that are more special than Emma could ever have imagined. A beautiful story with stunning illustrations that will enchant children with the wonder of nature and the night sky. See more

About Sarah Wallace

Sarah Wallace is a writer with a passion for children's literature. She loves writing magical stories for kids as well as poetry and short stories. Following an extensive career in print and marketing design Lesley now works across children's picture books private commissions and commercial illustration. Passionate about experimentation Lesley uses a combination of vibrant pencil pastel and ink and is never afraid to stretch the boundaries of techniques. The intricate 'micro-worlds' and detail within Lesley's work is fast becoming her feature trademark. Weaving hidden surprises not always seen first glance is a quirk inspired by such great artists such as Frida Kahlo and Graeme Base.
