About

Robert Dawson has been involved with Romanies and other Travellers since the age of 11 - that is for over 60 years. Over the years he has worked as a local newspape reporter and a police and crime specialist journalist retraining as a teacher. He retired early through ill-health having become the head of a primary school. Throughout he has worked with and for Travellers recognizing the injustice and prejudice which always dogs them. He is the author of over 80 books and specialist papers including several aspects not previously known to the outside world (the gorjers) such as wayside burials slavery in the Americas mass removal of children from families the 'secret' dialect of Irish Pavee Travellers and hosts on the history and language of Romani and Nawken (Scottish Traveller) peoples.
