About Shailendra K. Saxena

Professor (Dr.) Shailendra K. Saxena is a vice dean and professor at King George's Medical University Lucknow. His primary research interest is to understand molecular mechanisms of host defense during human viral infections and develop new strategies for predictive preventive and therapeutic strategies. Dr. Saxena has received specialized training in COVID-19: tackling the novel Coronavirus by London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and UK Public Health Rapid Support Team; and in Emerging respiratory viruses including COVID-19: methods for detection prevention response and control; Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for novel Coronavirus (COVID-19); COVID-19: Operational Planning Guidelines and COVID-19 Partners Platform to support country preparedness and response by The United Nations Country Team ( UNCT)-World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Programme (WHE). Prof. Saxena's work has been published in reputed international journals. His work has been highly cited by numerous investigators globally and honored by several prestigious national and international awards fellowships and scholarships in India and abroad including various Young Scientist Awards BBSRC India Partnering Award and named as the Global Leader in Science by The Scientist magazine (USA) and International Opinion Leader/Expert involved in the vaccination for JE by IPIC (UK).
