This book describes multiple effects of four stomach derived hormones (acylated and unacylated ghrelin, obestatin and nesfatin-1) collectively known as ghrelin family peptides (GFPs). Dr Leon Fisher BMBS FRACP Doc Med. Sci is a consultant gastroenterologist and Head of Endoscopy at Peninsula Health Melbourne Australia and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University Australia. He has completed two post-graduate fellowships and obtained a higher degree from the University of Melbourne Australia. He has more than 25 publications in peer reviewed journals and a biography published in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. His research interests include vitamin D parathyroid hormone (PTH) adipokines ghrelin peptides liver function and endoscopy.Associate Professor Alexander Fisher MBBS PhD Doc Med Sci FRACP is a senior consultant in the Department of Geriatric Medicine of Canberra Hospital Australia and the Australian National University Medical School. His research interests include: mineral and bone metabolism including vitamin D parathyroid hormone (PTH) and adipokine status in older adults with chronic diseases and fractures osteoporosis and haemodynamic instability. He is the author of about 350 scientific publications.
