Energy Efficiency in Motor Systems: Proceedings of the 12th International Conference EEMODS22, 3-5 May 2022, Stuttgart, Germany

English

This book contains selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the 12th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Motor Systems (EEMODS'22), held in Stuttgart, Germany from May 3-5, 2022. As with previous conferences in this series, EEMODS22 provided a scientific forum to discuss and debate the latest developments and impacts of electrical motor systems on energy and the environment, energy efficiency policies and programs adopted and planned, standards (including ISO 50.001), and the technical and commercial advances made in the dissemination and penetration of energy-efficient motor systems. Topics covered include emerging motor technologies, research and innovation in electric motors, power electronics and drives, pump systems, market surveillance and enforcement mechanisms, national energy efficiency standards including case studies, plus much more. The conference is international by nature and aims to attract high quality and innovative contributions from all corners of the globe, while the papers facilitate the development of new technologies, policies and strategies to increase energy efficiency.

About

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Radgen is the University Chair for Energy Efficiency at the Institute of Energy Economics and Rational Energy Use (IER) and Head of the Graduate and Research school for Efficient Energy Use Stuttgart (GREES). After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and INSA Lyon (France) Dr. Radgen wrote his PhD thesis at the University of Duisburg about the energetic optimization of industrial processes. From 1995 to 2008 he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for System and Innovation Research in Karlsruhe as Manager of the Energy Efficiency Business Unit. His main focus was energy efficiency in industrial utilities in particular electric motors compressors fans and pumps. He also dealt intensively with the topics of waste heat utilization and energy efficiency in industrial furnaces and dryers. From 2008 to 2015 he worked for the utility E.ON managing the research in the field of energy storage first and then from 2010 onwards he conducted the entire research program for CO2 Capture and Storage. In 2015 and 2016 he was responsible for the promotion of efficiency measures within the framework of the competitive tenders for electricity efficiency at the Swiss Federal Office of Energy Switzerland. He is the author of many national and international publications on the topic of energy efficiency and is a certified Energy Management Officer.   Dr. Paolo Bertoldi is a senior expert and team lead working at the European Commission since 1985. Since May 2001 he has been based at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (Ispra Italy) in charge of research activities on energy efficiency policy analysis the efficient use of electricity (in particular ICT) and innovative policy instruments for energy efficiency (e.g. white certificates financing mechanisms ESCO EPC emission trading). He also manages the Covenant of Mayors research activities at the JRC. He has been a Contributing Author for IPCC Assessment Report 4 Lead Author for IPCC Assessment Report 5 and the Special Report on 1.5 C and recently he has been nominated Lead Author for IPCC Assessment Report 6.
