Black History Comprehension: Our Great Men

English

By (author): Ruth Edmondson

The text books include cross words, word searches, and multiple choice questions to make learning fun and interactive. Volume 2 - Black History Comprehension: Our Great Men Provides short summaries on some black men who have made a significant difference, i.e Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Akon, Aloudah Equiano and Mansa Musa I, Tonje Batang, and Rio Ferdinand. The world is a very versatile place with a rich diversity of creeds and cultures. Our mission is to bring communities closer through inclusive learning. We believe that learning about others helps us to understand their place in the world, to gain respect for their differences and to ultimately bring us closer to living in harmony with one another. We specialise in developing fun and interactive comprehension activity books, games, and other educational resources on varying aspects of black/ African History. Our products are aimed at primary and secondary school aged children from all ethnic backgrounds. OUR OBJECTIVES: 1. To make LEARNING HISTORY FUN. 2. To encourage young people to AIM HIGH and choose legal routes to success through the presentation of POSITIVE ROLES MODELS. 3. To instill a sense of acceptance and SELF-ESTEEM of ones ethnic identity. A lack of self-esteem and seeing no positive future for oneself has been linked to depression and there is a disproportionate number of young people from black and other ethnic minority groups that are admitted into psychiatric care. 4. To encourage integration between other cultures and races by CHALLENGING NEGATIVE MEDIA DEPICTIONS which often lead to preconceptions that can hinder meeting a person with an open mind. External expectations can weigh heavy on a person and sometimes leads us to behave in ways that confirm these expectations. 5. Making knowledge of the great ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS of African people to western society accessible to all. 6. For our education system to reflect the diverse multicultural society we live in. Driving INCLUSIVE LEARNING. See more
