Charles A. Herbert: A Photographic Tribute 1905-1991
Hardback | English
By (author): Mary Attard
Charles A. Herbert‘s photography evokes a charm and appreciation for the analogue time of photography when creations were done manually in the darkroom and Photoshop was still a fantasy.
His works were skillfully achieved through enthusiastic dedication to this art form. His abstract designs were thus not digitally achieved but painstakingly and manually mounted until a satisfactory result was attained. It was a cut and paste affair.
He had also mastered Cibachrome and even found a cheaper way around its original chemicals.
Many of his pieces were internationally exhibited and honoured.
The author is indebted to Charles A. Herbert for catching the photography bug through his lectures at the Malta Photographic Society back in the ’70s. This book is a tribute to Charles, her mentor and source of inspiration.
