Need for a New Paradigm in Education: From the Newtonian Paradigm to the Quantum Paradigm

Amidst climate change, tectonic shifts, digital transformation, pandemic, global warming, global recessions and the escalating tensions between the powerful nations, theres a growing phenomenon brewing in K-12 education and higher education. All these amazing and frightening changes and exciting breakthroughs sprung on the world over the last decade will surely impact the learning trajectories of students and have a significant impact on the conventional model of schooling. We must face the reality that our younger generation is saddled with entirely new challenges, and we are not sure what the future of humanity might hold for our young generation. We know that they do not learn, think, or behave in the same way as their predecessors. The very way in which young people learn and communicate has evolved much more in the last decade than in the previous century.

Educational institutions are struggling to keep pace in the face of escalating marketplace changes and companies cannot train workers fast or cost-effectively enough to grow and remain competitive. Parents are searching for better education and schools for their children (Prensky, 2018). Countries and politicians make systemwide reforms. Employers are complaining about the skill gap and frantically, often in vain, demanding a dramatic change in the education system that can meet the current needs of the youth and the employers.

Students know the current education system does not prepare for the uncertainties that they have to face in their lives.

The authenticity of this book is that it covers the new value propositions of the quantum paradigm that the young generation must embrace, by focusing on the new business models in schooling, new pedagogies, new curricula, new assessment etc. The study is motivated by the idea that all the parents, employers, policy makers, teachers, students, and educational leaders alike complaining about the current educational system and demanding a change.
