Extensions of Feature Inheritance

This monograph is a study on the feature inheritance hypothesis (Chomsky 2008). Following previous collaborative work with Chao-Ting Tim Chou, Gerardo Fernández-Salgueiro explores in detail the hypothesis that only the number feature may be inherited in the CP phase, and further argues that in the vP phase it is the person feature that may undergo inheritance. Drawing on both well-known and novel empirical aspects of the syntax of English and Spanish, Fernández-Salgueiro discusses the implications of this approach for Agree, Case, A-movement, the properties of phases, and the application of Transfer.
