Information Architecture: Theory, Science and Practice

Paperback | English

By (author): Nathaniel Davis

Information Architecture provides a comprehensive look at the fundamental rules and axioms required to help transform a 21st century profession into a credible field of inquiry and science. The book presents the first contemporary theory of information architecture and is a comprehensive introduction to how one would pursue advising on information architecture within the context of professional practice. This book takes on the field''''s most difficult philosophical questions to form a baseline perspective of information and communication. Emerging from several years of research, the insights presented here stand as the official record and genesis of a new domain of information science that explores the fundamental theory, science and practice of information architecture. The first chapter features an introduction, followed by chapters on concepts and the study of information behaviour in the context of communication. Remaining chapters focus on practicing information architecture, theory and strategy. The final two chapters explore the future potential of information architecture and applied theory through a conclusion. See more
