Heterocycles from Carbenes and Nitrenes: Methods, Reactions and Synthetic Applications

English

This book provides researchers in the fields of organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis with an overview of recent developments in the applications of reactions involving carbene and nitrene intermediates directed to the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Multiple pathways through which diverse heterocyclic compounds are accessed occur from a variety of carbene and nitrene precursors through C-H/X-H insertions, cycloadditions, ylide transformations, rearrangements, and cascade reactions. Catalytic processes that form metallo-carbenes and nitrenes offer unparalleled chemo-, regio-, and stereo-selectivities. Insights are provided into the scope of these methodologies and the inherent control of catalyst ligands on reaction selectivities. See more

About

Michael P. Doyle is the Rita and John Feik Distinguished University Chair in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a graduate of the College of St. Thomas and Iowa State University has had academic appointments at undergraduate institutions (Hope College and Trinity University) and graduate universities (University of Arizona and University of Maryland) before taking his current position. He is widely recognized for his research in catalytic methods for metal carbene transformations.Xinfang Xu is graduated from East China Normal University (bachelor's degree in 2005 and Ph.D. in 2010) then conducted postdoctoral study at University of Maryland with Prof. Michael P. Doyle (2010-2014). In 2014 he started his independent career at Soochow University. He is now a full professor at Sun Yat-sen University where his research interests include catalytic carbene gem-difunctionalization and cascade reaction asymmetric catalysis and bioactivity-oriented heterocycle syntheses.
