Pharmacotherapy is the most commonly used treatment method for psychiatric disorders. Many patients experience medical diseases concurrent with psychiatric disorders. In addition, some patients suffer from medical problems such as metabolic complications, neutropenia and electrolyte imbalance due to the use of psychopharmacological treatments. Therefore, current medical conditions and the medical history of patients with psychiatric disorders are important factors that can affect the choice of psychotropic drugs in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Recently, there has been growing interest in the use of psychotropic drugs in patients with general medical conditions.
