The goddess Maat weighs the dead heart, Removes integument, like a serpent's skin. The flame of love, a feather on the head, Flutters around the trembling soul. This collection of poetry explores the relationship between spirituality and reality, religion and science, life and death, and is rich with Greek mythology. Gods and goddesses are very much alive and present within Templeton's work and the lines are coloured with references to great writers and artists. The result is an imaginative and intelligent selection of poetry which takes delight in life's mysteries. Ruth Templeton is an artist and has worked many years in the caring professions. She lived with alcoholics under the auspices of the Richmond Fellowship in the seventies. She studied at Hillcroft College, Surbiton; Hockerill College, Bishop's Stortford; the Open University and the teachings of the late artist and teacher Eugene Halliday. Ruth was born in Worksop, Notts.
