They begin with the basic building blocks and concepts, before moving on to detailed procedures, and novel techniques. The focus is on metrology, communications, and quantum logic, with a special emphasis on single photon technology as well as hybrid detection. A new feature to this edition are the end-of-chapter summaries and full problems sets throughout.
