About Stephen J. Brown

Stephen James Meredith Brown (18811962) was a Jesuit priest bibliographer and librarian. He was ordained as a Jesuit priest in 1914. Interested in producing firstly Irish and later catholic bibliographies he earned an international reputation as a bibliographer. He founded the Central Catholic Library in 1922 he is remembered today as a major bibliographer of Irish literature.
