About Barry PopeNorman Taylor

Norman Taylor has been a climber and fell walker since his teens. Since becoming a father with two children in the 1980s he began to plan walks to suit a young family. This resulted in his first publication Family Walks in the White Peak. This spawned a nationwide series for Scarthin Books of Cromford and Norman himself wrote a further five Family Walks guides. Since leaving the teaching profession and becoming manager of Foothills - the Outdoor Specialists in Sheffield - some years ago he has been leading weekly guided walks throughout the Peak District. The two Peak District Day Walks guidebooks published by Vertebrate Publishing are his latest project based on an intimate knowledge of the National Park. To help him in the venture Norman enlisted friend and walking companion Barry Pope. A keen fell walker since his teens Barry for many years roamed explored and photographed the landscape of the Peak District National Park. In the process he acquired an enviable knowledge of the natural history and archaeology of the area.
