Classic Motorcycle Electrics Manual

English

By (author): James Smith

Even the most hands-on of classic bike enthusiasts will often shy away from working on their bike's electrical system, believing they have neither the skill nor the knowledge for such work. Dr James Smith explains in Classic Motorcycle Electrics Manual that this need not be the case. Starting with basic electrical theory, the book demonstrates a wealth of electrical tips and techniques, providing a progressive and detailed guide to tasks ranging from simple repairs and upgrades, through to completely rewiring a classic motorcycle. Illustrated profusely with full-colour photographs and easy-to-following wiring diagrams, this book will be an invaluable resource for all classic bike owners and restorers. See more

About James Smith

Dr James Smith is an automotive engineer. He holds a Master's degree in Automotive Engineering and a PhD in Thermo-fluids from the University of Bath. Inspired to a love of quirky classic vehicles by a 1978 Allegro Vanden Plas he bought his first classic motorbike whilst living in India - a 1951 Matchless G3LS model that had originally been supplied to the Indian Army. Travelling to Hong Kong with the bike James continued to learn more about its quirks gaining first-hand experience of diagnosing repairing and re-assembling a failing electrical system. He has now combined his experience with his engineering background to write this book. James also designs and manufactures modern electrical upgrades for classic bikes and runs the website MatchlessClueless.com
