Everybody Knows This is Nowhere: Misadventures in Sixteen Dumper Countries
English
By (author): Andy Kershaw
In December 1988, after a long and difficult journey up the Niger river, Andy Kershaw arrived in Timbuktu, dropped his rucksack, looked round and said, Is this it?. Since then his fascination with the world's least-visited countries and most absurd republics has taken him to Haiti (six times), Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Mongolia, Bolivia, Chile, Kuwait, the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Cameroon and the Isle of Man. During his foreign adventures he has slept with a Senegalese taxi-driver; spent an afternoon with Dan Quayle; attented voodoo ceremonies; met Nelson Mandela; talked to the future President of Haiti when he was still in hiding; nearly drowned on the Niger river; taken breakfast with the head of the Tontons Macoute; walked across a minefield in Kuwait; and met descendants of Genghis Khan. This is Kershaw's humorous account of his travels.
