Hathigaon: An urban settlement of elephants and Mahouts

This monograph illustrates the conception, planning, and building of a unique settlement named Hathigaon, or Elephant village, designed by Rahul Mehrotra architect, for working elephants and their care taking families in the dry and arid city of Jaipur. The book also includes a reflective essay by Rahul Mehrotra. The overall planning approach including project conception and design development centred upon elephant comfort and meaningful animal-human interaction by focusing upon two key questions.
