Venice from the Sky is an outstanding photographic record by Riccardo Roiter Rigoni and Debora Gusson, the fruit of five years' regular flying by helicopter over Venice and its Lagoon. The flights were not confined to the city of Venice, but included all the islands of the splendid Lagoon, from Torcello to Burano, by way of Murano, as well as the wonderful island of San Francesco del Deserto, the military defences in the southern part of the Lagoon, the Lido and Pellestrina, not to mention the many now abandoned islands, large and small, located in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

About Debora GussonRiccardo Roiter Rigoni

Riccardo Roiter Rigoni is a native of Venice Italy who has worked as a photographer since 2001. He has been a contributor to a range of books magazines and newspapers and is the author of the books Venezia Sensation (2008) and Venice Timeless Moments (2012). He shot the worlds first photo of a mask over the Venetian sky. Every photograph is like a bag full of letters with different recipients Rigoni says. The photographer is only the postman. Debora Gusson was born in Dolo (Veneto). She has given talks at conferences on the Venetian territory notably on the topics of peasant traditions linked to seasonal cycles studying the anthropological aspects and the link between ritualism and religion. Deborah collaborates with Riccardo Roiter Rigoni on many artistic projects aimed at cultural communication: together they have written several articles and short essays including 1600 anni di Venezia unidea di futuro published in LESDE and in Rivista di Affari Internazionali e Geopolitica ATLANTIS.
