About Alan E. TonelliJialong Shen

Alan Tonelli born in Chicago in 1942received a BS in Chemical Engineeringfrom the University of Kansas in 1964 anda PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Stanfordin 1968 where he was associated with thelate Father of Polymer Science andNobelist Professor Paul J. Flory. He was amember of the Polymer Chemistry ResearchDepartment at AT&T-BELL LaboratoriesMurray Hill NJ for 23 years. In 1991 hejoined the Textile Engineering Chemistry & Science Department and theFiber & Polymer Science Program in the College of Textiles at NorthCarolina State University in Raleigh where he is currently theINVISTA Prof. of Fiber & Polymer Chemistry. Professor Tonellis researchinterests include the conformations configurations and structures of syntheticand biological polymers their determination by NMR and establishingtheir effects on the physical properties of polymer materials. Morerecently the formation study and use of inclusion complexes formed withpolymers and small molecule guests such as urea and cyclodextrins tonanostructure and safely deliver biologically active molecules to polymermaterials have been the focus of his research.Jialong Shen born in Hangzhou China in1987 received a PhD in Fiber and PolymerScience from North Carolina StateUniversity North Carolina United Statesin 2017. His research interests include themolecular basis of polymer glass transitionshost-guest supramolecular chemistry andthe applications of bio-macromoleculessuch as carbohydrate polymers and enzymes.He is currently a postdoctoral researchscholar in the Textile Engineering Chemistry & Science Department atNorth Carolina State University.
