Alan Brown (musical transcription) is a former member of the Scottish National Orchestra. He now works as a freelance musician with several leading UK orchestras and as a consultant in music and IT. Alan has had several compositions published developed a set of music theory CD-Roms co-written a series of Bass Guitar Examination Handbooks and worked on over 100 further titles. George Jacob Gershwin was one of the most significant and popular American composers of all time. His compositions spanned both popular and classical genres and included many Broadway works. Among his best-known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue (1924) and An American in Paris (1928) as well as the contemporary opera Porgy and Bess (1935).
