The most popular place of pilgrimage in Ireland today is Knock, a village in County Mayo where, in 1879, two women claimed to have seen a vision of the Virgin Mary with St John and St Joseph. A million people visit Knock every year, and about 600 cures have been attributed to the intercession of the Virgin at this site. Ireland is full of places of religious importance.
