NearInfrared Spectroscopy 2e Principles, Instruments, Applications

English

By (author): HW Siesler

Providing a balanced overview of the fundamental theory and instrumentation relating to NIR spectroscopy, this reference introduces the material in a readily comprehensible manner. A considerable part of the text is dedicated to practical applications, including sample preparation and investigations of polymers, textiles, drugs, food and animal feed. However, such special topics as two-dimensional correlation analysis are also covered in separate chapters. Written by eight experts from different fields, this is an invaluable companion for spectroscopists and practitioners applying this indispensable tool in their daily work. See more

About HW Siesler

Heinz W. Siesler is a Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) since 1987. His main research interests focus on the application of vibrational spectroscopy to chemical and polymer analysis and quality control. Prior to his present position he gained extensive industrial experience as section head in molecular spectroscopy and thermal analysis from 1974 to 1987 in the R&D Department of Bayer AG Germany. He also worked as post-doctoral fellow with Prof. Dr. D. O. Hummel in the Department of Physical Chemistry of the University of Cologne (Germany) after receiving his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Vienna (Austria) in 1970. Yukihiro Ozaki graduated from Osaka University (Japan) in 1973 with BS degree in chemistry. He also obtained his MSc (1975) and PhD (1978) in chemistry from Osaka University. After he spent for two years and a half at National Research Council Canada as a research associate he joined the Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo in 1981. In 1989 he moved to Kwansei Gakuin University as an associate professor of Chemistry Department. Currently he holds a position of professor in the Department of Chemistry School of Science and Technology. Since April 2006 Ozaki has been Dean of School of Science and Technology Kwansei Gakuin University. He is also Director of Research Center for Single Molecule Vibrational Spectroscopy and Director of Research Center for Environment Friendly Polymers of the university. Satoshi Kawata received his BSc Msc and PhD all in Applied Physics from Osaka University (Japan). After the experience of postdoctral fellow of JSPS he spent two years in University of California Irvine (USA) as a Research Associate. He joined in Osaka University as a faculty member in 1981 and was promoted to a full Professor of Applied Physics in 1993. He is now a Professor of Applied Physics at Osaka University and a Chief Scientist in RIKEN. He is also the Director of Photonics Advanced Research Center and a joint Professor at Frontier Bioscience Department in Osaka. Herbert Michael Heise studied chemistry at Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel (Germany) where he also obtained his PhD degree. After research positions at The University of Western Australia (Australia) Federal Biological Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry Braunschweig (Germany) and German National Physical Laboratory Braunschweig he joined Dortmund University of Technology (Germany) in 1982. Since 2009 he is Honorary Professor at the University of Applied Sciences of South-Westphalia Iserlohn (Germany).
