It is over forty-five years since I was a daily commuter on public transport. In those days there was a conductor who stood under the stairs, rang the bell for go and stop, collected the fares, and gave you a ticket. I always went upstairs and had a book with me and read all the way until I reached my destination. This went on for many years. I did get through a lot of books and then I bought a car. I was delighted with my independence and I loved driving. I thought I would never use public transport again, and I did not that is until now ........
