This book is about drawings and paintings of Susie Orchach and Orbach's thoughts on these works.
Blane started making portraits of the psychoanalyst/writer Dr Susie Orbach during the Covid epidemic. These drawings are interesting because of the lack of formal sittings. They rely on the artist's memory and her ability to access her thoughts and memories of Orbach without immediate scrutiny.
The work situates the artist as someone very much in touch with reality, yet able to place her 'subject' in a different time and space - Almost a rebirth.
Blane has said she wonders if the fear we all felt during the Covid epidemic is visible in this work.
Penny Woolcock made a short film about the project titled 'Portrait'.
