Ten Tales From South America
English
By (author): Vic Duke
The background to this booklet is my overland trip around South America in 1976. The tour was organised by a company called Aardvark, based in London. There were two drivers (a New Zealander and a Brit) and 14 paying travellers (5 Australian and 9 Brits). In all I was in South America for 2 months. These ten tales from South America cover 6 countries. Half the tales relate to Brazil, which dominates the continent and the trip in terms of size. The tales are not about the sights of South America, though some will be mentioned in passing. They are personal stories, mostly involving interaction with the locals. Recollections of my escapades have been aided by consulting my dust-covered notebook from 1976.
