Susan Krauss Whitbourne is Professor of Psychology and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst USA. She is one of the pioneers of the field of adult development and aging and her work focuses on personality development in midlife and later adulthood. She has appeared in the national media including The New York Times Newsweek The Boston Globe Natural Health and the Chicago Tribune and is a widely read blogger for Psychology Today and Huffington Post. She is the author of 16 books many in multiple translations and over 150 journal articles and chapters. Her books include Adult Development and Aging: Biopsychosocial Perspectives (5th Edition Wiley 2014) The Wiley-Blackwell Handbook of Adulthood and Aging (Wiley-Blackwell 2012) The Search for Fulfillment (2010) and Abnormal Psychology: Clinical Perspectives on Psychological Disorders (6th edition 2009). She has received major teaching and mentoring awards both nationally and at her university and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science Chair of the Gerontological Society of Americas Behavioral and Social Sciences section and a member of the APA Board of Educational Affairs.
